This is going to be one of those weeks where I’m getting my car fixed instead of buying groceries, so I’ll be getting creative trying to squeeze our meals out of what’s left in the kitchen from last weekend’s shopping. It sucks, but what can you do? If I don’t get my car fixed, I won’t be able to get myself back and forth to work so I can get my paycheck to buy future groceries.
I’m not telling you all of this to make you feel sorry for me, though. The fact is, there are a lot of people in the world who have it worse than I do. Much worse. I have a job. I have health insurance (it’s expensive, but I have it.) I get sick time, so I can take a day off once in a while when my kids are sick. I even get vacation time. And, I work at a university, so I get to take up to seven credits of classes at work each semester for free. I have a lot of opportunities and options that many people do not have.
So no, I’m not complaining. But the thing is, I did get to thinking today about all the creative ideas that a lot of us have to come up with to keep roofs over our heads and food in our kids’ bellies. I have found many ideas from others like me on the internet, and I bet I’ve also come up with some interesting ideas that other people can use. So why not share them?
Besides, if I put up a website and throw some ads on it, it stops being a hobby and becomes a revenue stream. And, who couldn’t use an extra one of those? I hope you’ll get some use out of my shiny new website.
