Three simple and inexpensive tricks to keep the cold out this winter and save money on heat10/19/2015
Is it getting cold in here? That’s one sentence you don’t usually hear out of my mouth. Usually it’s, “Is it hot in here, or is it just me?” (Because… hot flashes, ya’ll!) So you know it’s getting cold in here for real if I’m complaining about it!

It may be getting chilly outside, but there’s still plenty of time for camping this fall! Some people believe you have to go all out and buy tons of stuff to go camping nowadays, but not us. We have been able to have a wonderful time spending very little. How does our family camp on a dime? We didn’t start off giving the right impression to our older foster/adopted kids with holidays and gift giving. We used to receive money for each of them while they stayed with us, so we felt we wanted to spend some of it on them so they could have a real lavish Halloween, Thanksgiving, Easter, or Christmas experience. This was somewhat of a bad idea because they grew to expect it. When we could afford it, it was a lot of fun to be able to provide them with whatever their hearts desired, especially for Christmas. Since we are no longer able to do that, and especially now that there are 7 children in total that we have to provide for including our grandson, we have had to come up with creative ways to still make holidays special without doling out more money than we can afford.
