Weather proofing your home is one of the easiest ways to save money IF you have the money to invest in weather proofing to begin with. My sister recently told me about some energy saving, room darkening curtains that she’d gotten a deal on at Big Lots, and I knew I had to get some, at least for my kids’ bedrooms.
Their rooms get a ton of sunlight in the summertime, which leaves their rooms roasting! In the winter, they freeze from the cold air huffing on their window glass. So, I set out for Big Lots to get me some curtains! |
I had this in mind as I scoured Farm and Fleet looking for a makeshift curtain rod. I got the idea that I could buy wooden dowel rods instead of regular cheapy curtain rods and hang them on plant hanging hooks screwed into the wall. I found what I was looking for and took it home to hang it all up. My new curtain rods cost me even less money than those ugly white metal things that a poor mum would usually buy when she just needs to get the danged windows covered already!

By the way, I did have one set up curtains in my living room hanging from a regular curtain rod. Look what my cats did to it! They pulled the screws and everything out of the wall! They wouldn’t be able to do that with my dowel rod curtain rods!
