Substitution #1: I wanted a graham cracker crust rather than a regular piecrust, so I Googled a recipe for that and ended up using this one from Taste of Home. Interestingly enough, I did this knowing full well that I didn’t have a single graham cracker in the house. But I didn’t let that stop me. My sister was here earlier and left several single-serve packages of pretzels that had been hanging around her house for several weeks. (We often trade foods we’ve purchased, erroneously believing that our children would eat them.) I didn’t think my kids were going to eat them either, so I crushed those pretzels up and used them in place of graham crackers.
Substitution #3: My recipe called for lemon zest. BAHAHAHAHA!!! LOLZ, they’re SO DAMN CUTE, these recipe writers! Honey, poor people just don’t keep lemon zest in the house. At least not any poor peeps I know. So, I just added a little extra lemon juice, and bam! Problem solved!
And now, it’s recipe time. I’m not sure of the legalities of reprinting someone else’s recipes, so to be safe, I’m just going to share links and a photo from my cookbook:
