Thinking and planning in advance can go a long way, but I never had to think of that before because I could easily whip up a meal within 45 minutes. That’s most of the time no longer an option, so the even shorter “magical 5 minute increments” do wonders.

- pulling apart the chicken carcass, rinsing the beans, and putting both in the crockpot,
- cutting an onion and a bunch of carrots to throw in,
- cutting and tossing in peppers and a mixture of spices, then stirring it all up and setting the crock pot for the next 4 hours,
- rinsing and placing the rice with water in the rice cooker,
- chopping and preparing a side of broccoli to steam, and last but not leas,
- putting bread in the oven, and
Voila! Dinner was set in less than a total of 30 minutes for the day! And the total cost was less than $15 for a family of five at home, with leftovers to last for at least one more day of filling tummies with simple deliciousness!
