Am I the only one who feels like I always have a running “giveaway” pile to donate, yet somehow there are still more things to give away? We decided instead to have a yard sale last weekend, and with a little planning and organization, it was a great success! First, select the items to sell. I went through the whole house and chose anything and everything that I hadn’t used or worn in the past year. We had clothes, kitchen utensils, old electronics, some furniture, some books, old DVDs, and recreational equipment. |

Make your display look inviting and clean. I set up tables to put our boxes of sellable items on. I even labeled each of the boxes. Having things on table tops makes it easier for browsing. And whatever we did not sell at the end of the day, I loaded up immediately and drove them to the thrift store. The furniture we didn’t sell went up on Craigslist for sale and the old books I donated to our library. At the end of the day I had cash in my pocket and a decluttered home.
